Big Brother 22: All-Stars contestant Nicole Anthony has confessed that she ignored the Big Brother 21 videos sent by Kemi Fakunle to educate her on Jackson Michie and Jack Matthews' racist behavior. The BB fans have a hard time agreeing on just about anything, but it is a pretty unanimous conclusion within the fandom that BB21 was a season tainted by problematic speech and controversial behavior. It all started during the first four weeks of the game, where virtually every single non-white player in the season was consecutively targeted and subsequently evicted. Those evictions consisted of David Alexander, Ovi Kabir, Kemi Fakunle, and Bella Wang.
With such a toxic environment inside the Big Brother 21 house, the viewers found some relief with Nicole Anthony's relentlessly optimistic spirit. She fought her way to the season's Final 3 without ever compromising her kindness and sweetness. In the end, a member of the problematic majority alliance won the $500,000 grand prize... but the public voted in masses to give Nicole the title of America's Favorite Houseguest, which awarded her $25,000. A year later, Nicole Anthony was brought back to compete on the series' second-ever All-Stars season. She was evicted in week 2.
After being evicted from Big Brother: All-Stars, Nicole Anthony released a series of post-season interviews via the Hello, Friends! podcast that she hosts with Eric Curto. On Saturday, August 29, the final part of this series of interviews was released, where Nicole made a few revelations that have shocked the Big Brother fans. Here, Nicole admitted to the fact that Kemi tried to educate her about Jack and Jackson's racist behavior by sending her certain clips from Big Brother 21. However, Nicole stated that she did not watch the clips. When asked why she didn't, Nicole said that she preferred not watching them: "If you avoid something, it's not true. (...) If I don't watch these things, they don't exist." Below is a tweet where Kemi reacted to Nicole's interview.
During that same interview, Nicole Anthony provided her thoughts on the leaked BB21 group chat that contained racist text messages. In that group chat, Nick Maccarone and Jack Matthews exchanged a few "jokes" that were actually very problematic. Nick has since apologized for making those remarks. When talking about that situation in particular, Nicole remarked that she wouldn't even have looked at those messages if they had leaked a few months ago. Once again, she reinforced the idea that she was trying to look the other way when it came to the accusations made against her Big Brother 21 co-stars. Nicole then said that she is now taking accountability for her choices. She claimed to have apologized to Kemi, and to have reached out to Jack and Jackson in an attempt to educate them.
One can hope that more Big Brother 21 controversies won't arise in the coming weeks. Unfortunately, this does seem like the season that keeps on giving... and not in a good way.
Big Brother 22: All-Stars airs Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays at 8pm EST on CBS.
