Monday's episode of The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons - Ever! will feature Nick Viall’s Bachelor season, but where is his runner-up Raven Gates? After Bachelor In Paradise, Raven and Adam Gottschalk from Rachel Lindsay’s Bachelorette season got together; here’s everything you need to know about their relationship.
On The Bachelor, Raven Gates came in second to Vanessa Grimaldi in the battle for Nick Viall’s heart. Raven was a fan favorite, but thought to be too young to become the next Bachelorette. The top spot was given to Rachel Lindsay, who came in third on The Bachelor. Raven announced on the “After The Final Rose” special that she would be on that year’s season of Bachelor in Paradise. Later that year on The Bachelorette, Adam Gottschalk was one of Rachel Lindsay’s rejected suitors, and was also chosen to be on the fourth season of Bachelor In Paradise that summer. Adam and Raven revealed on the show that they had met once before, and been interested in each other, but nothing happened. They hit it off on Bachelor in Paradise in 2017, and have been together ever since.
However, the couple did not get engaged on Bachelor In Paradise. When they spoke to Glamour after the finale, they were clear that they were excited to keep dating, but needed more time before making it official. They listed things like living in the same city and moving Raven’s boutique to Dallas as important steps before committing to an engagement. Both Raven and Adam were looking forward to moving in together in the future. As to what brought them together, Raven said, “I think I told Adam straight up that I’m a strong, independent woman!” Adam confirmed this, and continued, “To have somebody who can love themselves before loving someone else is a very attractive trait, and it’s hard to find.”
Adam and Raven’s romance continued to blossom, and Adam popped the question in May of 2019. Adam was firm about not wanting a typical Bachelor proposal; he told E! News in an exclusive interview at the time that, “The ring is not Neil Lane or Bachelor related. We are pretty sure that we are the only couple from the franchise who got together and did the engagement on their own.” Adam planned a mock photoshoot for Raven’s boutique, Grey Suede, and surprised her by getting down on one knee on a rooftop surrounded by roses. “I blacked out, but I got everything I wanted,” Adam said to E! He also coordinated so that his and Raven’s families would be in Dallas that day so that they could all celebrate together. Raven was thrilled with the proposal and wrote on her Instagram, “I’m keeping you forever and for always, we will be together all of our days.”
Since the proposal, Raven has been keeping her social media followers updated on wedding planning. In September, 2019, Raven wrote on Instagram that the couple was planning to have their wedding in 8 months, but it has been delayed due to the pandemic. The couple has been making other serious moves in the meantime: they started a podcast together called Date Night With Raven and Adam and bought a house in Dallas. They celebrated their cancelled wedding date with a new engagement photoshoot in their new home in July. “This year has taught me to make lemonade out of lemons!” wrote Raven on Instagram, “I’m soooo thankful to be riding this roller coaster of life with the love of my life. He has taught me to find joy in the smallest things.”
For now, the couple is happily quarantined in Dallas with their dog, Boaz. We’re all excited to see what they do next, and to celebrate the wedding day when it finally comes!
