Star Wars Squadrons: 10 Memes That Will Leave You Crying Of Laughter

Star Wars Squadrons has only been out for a few weeks, but have already set ranking records that weren’t expected to be seen for quite a while, and they have noticed tiny details that few others would.

The game isn’t like the typical EA cash cow, as it unexpectedly comes without a high price tag and is free of any in-game purchases, not to mention that the gameplay is thrilling, which makes the game hard to mock. But, players have still somehow found plenty of things to meme.

10 Cleaners At The Empire

There a lot of things players may have missed in Squadrons, but they have been quick to notice some of the game’s quirks. It just goes to show how much of a keen eye gamers have, and, at the same time, how little there is to criticize in the game, as the most popular meme of Squadrons is about the reflections on the floor. But, it is totally on point and funny to think that the Empire actually must have cleaners keeping the floors spotless.

9 Full Power To Engines

If there’s one thing gamers put in as much effort into as they do with games, it’s making memes out of those games, and one player has pointed that out using a quote from the video game. This fan has literally made a meme about making a meme about video games, and, as Star Wars Squadrons takes place after the battle of Endor, it’s technically classed as a sequel, essentially feeding them with new ammo.

8 The Death Count

The sequel trilogy definitely has it’s fair share of critics and haters, but one thing most people can agree on is that Kylo Ren is arguably the best character, and he has some of the best lines of dialogue in the entire series. However, when hilariously pairing his speech that Kylo gives right before he murders his father with the game’s death count of 68, it shows his dialogue in a truly different light.

7 Pilots Standing By

When it comes to the best pilots in the rogue squadron, these aren’t exactly going to be found on the list. The meme combines Family Guy’s classic off-beat humor with its adoration of Star Wars in a way that mocks it but still humbly holds the series in high regard.

A fan has applied this to Squadrons, as the unnecessary “standing by” scene from A New Hope is referenced restlessly throughout the game. Though Big Red isn’t exactly a typical character we want to see in the game, it’s something that we can fantasize about.

6 Playing Support

It always seems to be the way that whenever players are desperately in need of support, there’s never any support to be found. But, when those same players play as a support ship, they seem to always be working overtime and taking care of their team. Though it may seem like the support ships take longer to arrive when players are desperate, it always feels like some support players put in less effort than others.

5 Big Kids

Squadrons fulfills so many Star Wars fans’ dreams, giving the player the ability to have a much better grasp, control, and overall gaming experience when it comes to flying x-wings, tie fighters, and other iconic ships from the series.

Taken from an episode of Futurama, there is a badly drawn framed picture of Fry riding a rocket ship that Fry drew himself in his 20s. This represents Squadrons fans well as they’ve been dreaming of almost the exact same thing.

4 They Fly Now

Based on one of the worst bits of dialogue in the whole series, as Poe, 3PO, and Finn all learn in Rise of the Skywalker that stormtroopers can now fly, they each take it in turns to scream “they fly now.” It is one of the cringiest moments of the sequel trilogy, and it has been parodied and memed to no end, and even a video game about piloting spacecraft isn’t safe from one of the series’ lowest moments.

3 Squadrons At Home

With the release of Squadrons, one player has jumped at the chance to compare it with the arguably inferior game that predates Squadrons, Starfighter Assault from the much-maligned Star Wars Battlefront II. However, though Squadrons is a lot of fun, and there are some great pro tips for flying a fighter that the players with the highest rankings use, Battlefront II's take on space combat gets a bad rep. Starfighter Assault is more cinematic, has fractionally better graphics, and it isn’t as infuriatingly difficult as Squadrons.

2 Abandoning Games

This could be applied to most team games, but, as rankings in Squadrons are so important and are respect coupons as much as they are self-fulfilling, this one is almost too close to the truth to be funny. As Squadrons is a game that is primarily played as a team, one player abandoning the game is something that happens all too often, making it impossible for other players to ever get ranked.

1 So Much Support

This game marks a precedent for EA, as they have pretty much given gamers everything they wanted without half-built game modes or being restricted by microtransactions. Not only is it a full game and comes with a much lower price than other games, but it is available on every console and PC, and it comes with tons of support, too. If this is the direction EA continues with as we head into the next generation, we could be in for some great surprises.
