Among Us Players Are Getting Sick Of Visual Task Obsession

Players of the popular online multiplayer game Among Us are starting to grow tired of the obsession with visual tasks. Despite there being numerous ways to spot an Impostor in the game, players often turn to the use of visual tasks to find out if someone is the Impostor easily. However, most players are beginning to turn that feature off in lobby settings now.

Among Us is a game where crewmates are given a set list of tasks to complete in order to win the game, all while trying to evade the hands of the Impostor and avoid death. Some of these tasks are called visual tasks - such as the Submit Scan task or the Clear Asteroids task. It’s often used to point out who is the Impostor and who isn’t in the group of players since only crewmates can do visual tasks and Impostors can’t fake those tasks.

However, it seems that players are beginning to move away from those tasks, as they have grown inefficient in use and are becoming plain annoying. A meme posted on Reddit by user Someone-0_0 covers the issue, saying that sometimes people will say that they saw someone go to trash and the trash didn’t come out, but the reason it didn’t was that the visual tasks were off. In another post from user Lord_Derpington, they talk about how often people will regularly comment “watch me scan, watch me scan!” to prove that they are not an Impostor, which can grow annoying when others finally know who the Impostor is but other crewmates don’t seem to want to listen. One other post from realPacManVN shows that some players don’t quite understand how visual tasks are meant to be used and will still sometimes vote for those players even though they are not an Impostor.

Due to many of these reasons, it’s become increasingly popular to turn off those settings in the lobby. While Among Us is popular for many reasons - it recently won Best Multiplayer Game at the Game Awards - there are certain things that could change for many reasons, including the current visual scan tasks that players are beginning to turn off more regularly.

However, that doesn’t change how many people have still been playing the game in general. In the last month alone, Among Us had half a billion active players, so even with the complaints about visual tasks, players are still enjoying figuring out who the Impostor is among them. But, if visual tasks are becoming a bother, the ability to turn them off is right there in the lobby.
