As much as Disney fans love the fairytale romance of the animated movies, there's also a sense of glee in finally seeing the main characters kiss. From Cinderella finally getting to smooch her Prince Charming to Snow White being awoken from a dead sleep with a kiss, it never fails to make fans blush.
But, not all animated kisses rank as being the best and most romantic ones. Maybe it's due to the type of cinematography and animation used back in the 1950s and later. Whatever the reason, Disney movies of today have gotten more detailed in showing a lot more when the main characters lock lips. They've also amped up the emotion and drama.
10 Cinderella And Prince Charming
This might rustle some feathers, but Cinderella and Prince Charming's kiss in the 1950 movie isn't high on the list. After everything that happens in the movie, they finally get their smooch at the very end. There's no real drama or anticipation leading up to it, and it only lasts for a few short moments.
After Cinderella proves that the glass slipper is hers, Prince Charming takes her to be his lawfully wedded wife. After the wedding ceremony, the two share a sweet kiss as they depart. That's it. For fans who have watched the sequel films, those kisses are a bit more spectacular.
9 Aurora And Prince Philip
The drama behind Aurora's kiss with Prince Philip is far more interesting, but it still lacks in the riveting factor. It might be due to the simpleness of the kiss and the animation used at the time. After Prince Philip slays the dragon like a true hero, he's escorted to the tower to save Aurora.
Only true love's kiss can break her out of her deep sleep caused by the bewitched spindle. Philip leans in to kiss her lips... and that's it. The color magically returns to her body, and her eyes open up as if she's risen from the dead. While the classic moment still makes fans' hearts flutter, it's not the best out there.
8 Snow White And The Prince
Snow White's kiss deserves a bit more recognition. Many fans find the scene comical because it means that the Prince technically kissed a corpse. Putting that aside, the kiss isn't perfect, but it works in some ways. To start, Snow White is in a deathlike sleep from eating the poisoned apple by the Queen.
What loses brownie points is that the Prince only learns of her predicament a year later. After knowing the truth, he sings his way to her and gives her a sweet kiss on the lips. This moment is more magical when the dwarves and animal bow their heads hoping it works. Snow White wakes up and rubs her eyes as if she took a quick nap, sees the Prince, is ecstatic, and holds her arms out to him.
7 Tiana And Prince Naveen
The Princess and the Frog get a higher ranking because it has three kiss scenes. One is more comical, while the other is a fairytale ending. Tiana meets Prince Naveen as a frog and thinks of him as being selfish and stuck up, but he believes she's a princess and explains that a kiss will revert him back to normal.
Tiana musters up the courage and gives him a big smooch on the lips that creates dazzling green light and sparkles. Sadly, she also turns into a frog. The second occurs when they fall in love and their kiss turns them back to normal in a whirlwind of magic. The last sweet kiss is after Tiana fulfills her dream of having a restaurant as she and Naveen dance the night away.
6 Aladdin And Jasmine
Aladdin and Jasmine's first kiss is the equivalent of your first real crush. Aladdin passes himself as a wealthy prince with garments and all to try and impress Jasmine. Jasmine becomes smitten by him and his courageous and fun personality, but Jasmine is still suspicious.
Their interactions are cute and flirty. Aladdin is set to leave on his magic carpet, but the carpet has other ideas. When leaning into each other, the carpet gives Aladdin a little nudge that has them lock lips. The look of admiration on Aladdin's face afterward would make anyone blush.
5 Belle And The Beast
It's hard not to admit that many Disney fans had a small crush on Beast when he turned into a handsome prince. The moments leading up to the magical kiss is what has fans' hearts beating. Beast's time is up and is on the verge of death, but Belle tells him how she feels and sheds a tear breaking the curse.
In a flurry of magic, Beast starts to transform into his old self. A romantic moment is when Belle only recognizes him by his striking and emotional blue eyes. They soon share a steamy kiss that envelopes them in magic and transforms the castle back to normal. Talk about drama worth blushing over!
4 Anna and Kristoff
While Frozen is all about Elsa's journey to finding herself and protecting Anna, it does have a cute love story. Anna at first believes to be in love with Prince Hans, but, in actuality, it was Kristoff all along. Towards the end of the movie, they share an interaction and kiss that can be only described as cute and adorable.
Kristoff twirls Anna in the air and says " I could kiss you." He realizes what he said and becomes bashful and explains he would like to. In a jumble of words, he asks if he can, and Anna shuts him up with a kiss on the cheek. Kristoff wants something more and swoops in for a jaw-dropping kiss.
3 Hercules And Meg
Hercules's admitting his feeling for Meg and what he does for love is any girl's dream. Meg's life is taken by Hades, and Hercules makes the decision to go into the pit of souls to go rescue hers while risking his own life. After successfully returning her life to her body, she asks why he did it.
He responds with, "people do crazy things when they're in love." Hearts exploded. As they are set to kiss, Zeus interrupts. In the end, Hercules gives up his life as a God to stay on Earth with Meg, stating it's where he truly belongs, leading to an epic kiss where Meg takes some control. Total boyfriend material.
2 Tarzan And Jane
Tarzan and Jane's kiss is very emotional and sad. Tarzan was raised in the jungle, while Jane is a lady born and raised in England. After everything they've gone through, Jane and her father are set to return home. Tarzan watches from ashore as her boat sails away.
Jane is clearly distraught over having to leave, and, with some encouragement from her father, she jumps off and waddles to shore. Jane launches herself at Tarzan, causing both of them to fall into the water. She wraps her arms around him and kisses him. She does become bashful after realizing what she did. Until Tarzan cups her face, looking deeply into her eyes, and plants one on her. All while the gorillas were watching.
1 Pocahontas And John Smith
The best way to describe the emotion of Pocahontas and John Smith's relationship is by the phrase, "meeting the right one at the wrong time." As the story goes, Pocahontas is the daughter of the chief of the Powhatan tribe. Their land is invaded by Englishmen, including John Smith. Pocahantas and Smith know their love isn't meant to be because of where they're from and who they are.
But, they fall in love anyway. They get some guidance from Grandmother Willow, who urges them to ask for peace in order for their people to live and for them to be together. They then share an emotional kiss that leads to a brawl when Kocoum spies on them. Their final kiss is what sheds tears. In the extended version of the finale, Smith is badly wounded and wants to stay, but Pochantas knows he must return. She sings, "If I Never Knew You" and tells him how grateful she is to have met him. They share one final goodbye kiss.
