A new WandaVision poster reveals when the show's comic-accurate costume episode takes place. The upcoming Disney+ series will be the first of the Marvel Cinematic Universe shows planned for the streamer to debut. Originally, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was set to premiere first, but the coronavirus changed Marvel's release schedule significantly. Last month, the studio announced WandaVision's release date is January 15, which will make it the first MCU project to drop in well over a year.
Of all the upcoming Disney+ shows, WandaVision is arguably one of the most anticipated. It will mark a departure for the MCU as far as genre. WandaVision will mix classic Marvel action with a sitcom style. The combination is intriguing to say the least, and footage has suggested the series will make the most of its differing elements. However, WandaVision also won't forget its comic book roots, with an appearance by Scarlet Witch's comic-accurate costume teased during the show's Super Bowl spot nearly a year ago. A later trailer showed Vision in a similar look and suggested the costumes will be worn in a Halloween episode.
A new poster shared on WandaVision's Twitter confirms this, as well as that the episode will take place in the 1990s. This is clear through the pumpkin shown on top of the TV, as well as the classic '90s sitcom staircase visible behind Wanda and Vision. Additionally, the poster is the latest in a series that have each teased a different decade for the show. As the '80s were last, logically this poster represents the '90s episode.
Though Wanda and Vision's comic-accurate costumes have been teased for awhile, it's exciting to find out when audiences can expect to see them. Showing the characters celebrating Halloween provides an easy way to pay homage to the comic books and give fans a nice treat. However, it also doesn't box the show in to using those costumes going forward. The '90s are the perfect time period for a fun Halloween episode, and it will be interesting to see WandaVision's take on the decade.
The show's different time periods will make it stand out from the rest of the MCU. However, WandaVision star Paul Bettany has reassured viewers the series will still fit in with the rest of the franchise. The most recent poster should make audiences even more excited for WandaVision's comic-accurate costume episode, as well as everything else the show has to offer.
