Hulu New Home of FX Past & Future Lineup | Screen Rant

Hulu is set to become the exclusive home of FX shows like It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Archer, Fargo, and many others, thanks to a new deal between the two companies. This move is yet another shot fired in the online television streaming wars, one which recently saw Disney+ partnering with Amazon and everyone, even HBO Max and Netflix, beginning to crack down on password sharing. While Netflix remains the dominant force in the movie and television streaming marketplace, thanks in part to having been the pioneer of the service in the first place, many other companies are now vying for Netflix's throne.

Although originally not as popular an alternative as some others, Hulu has since grown to be considered one of the most content-filled streaming services on the market today. Some of the best movies on Hulu include titles like The Fifth Element, The Matrix, Heathersand Lethal Weapon, not to mention their wide variety of television shows, many of which are already not available for streaming anywhere else. Now, the company is poised to add even more.

According to a press release, Hulu will be gaining access to a plethora of past, current, and future FX television shows, including heavy-hitters like the previously mentioned Archer and fourteen seasons of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, as well as legacy FX shows like Baskets, The Leagueand Sons of AnarchyAll of these shows, including nine seasons of American Horror Story and much more, will be sorted under the umbrella category "FX on Hulu" once it reaches the streaming service.

In addition to all of the old and current FX shows, Hulu will also be obtaining exclusive streaming rights to new television shows such as Devs, a tech thriller starring Sonoya Mizuno and Nick Offerman, and Mrs. America, a limited series about the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment starring Cate Blanchett, Rose Byrne, Elizabeth banks, Margo Martindale, and many others. Two other FX on Hulu exclusives, A Teacher staring Kate Mara and Nick Robinson, and The Old Man (Jeff Bridges) will also be available. The new shows are set to being debuting in Spring of 2020.

As more and more companies begin to expand their reach into the television streaming marketplace, some fans are worried they will have to begin subscribing to twelve different services in order to watch all of their favorite shows. While the current system is still far more affordable than traditional cable options, if Hulu, Amazon, HBO, and Netflix all can't figure out how to play nicely together, viewers will simply go back to pirating everything. Fortunately, it seems like most of the biggest streaming services have enough quality content to keep their fans satiated... at least for now.
