In a rare interview, Keeping Up with the Kardashians' Kanye West talks about his marriage, his faith, his newest album, and how his self-proclaimed sex addiction has affected "almost every choice" he's ever made in life.
Kanye has been involved in the music industry since the mid-1990s when he began producing, and the rapper released his first album 15 years ago, but in the realm of reality TV, he's best known for his relationship and marriage to Kim Kardashian-West. The self-proclaimed "greatest artist of all time" has been involved in his fair share of scandal over the years, and at the start of his relationship with Kim he was against appearing on Keeping Up with the Kardashians all together but that has changed over the years and Kanye frequently appears on the show now. Although he's just now warming up to the idea of reality TV, the rapper is known to be scarce when it comes to interviews, as he values his privacy. However, just ahead of the release of his most recent album, Jesus is King, Kanye set down for a number of interviews and publicity events, and he was very candid about aspects of his life.
In a tell-all interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music Beats 1 (via E! Online), Kanye sat down on his ranch in Wyoming to discuss everything from his marriage to his new-found faith to his "full-on pornography addiction." The 42-year-old said that "my dad had a Playboy left out at age five and it's affected almost every choice I made for the rest of my life" but that "with God, I've been able to beat things that had a full control of me." Kanye says that he "wasn't just addicted to sex, [he] was addicted to inspiration" as well, and he clarified that "what I meant by being addicted to inspiration - yeah it could be, the sex could be an inspiration but also just a design image." Another thing that Kanye talked about during his interview was how he coped with his mother's death, and he attributes that all to his relationship with God. "I just thank God for saving me physically, mentally, spiritually," which is evident in the music on his latest album.
In the same interview Kanye also briefly discussed his relationship with his wife Kim, saying that "what I have learned from five years of marriage is [marriage] is the greatest bond." He cherishes having someone "that you can call on, someone you can call out, someone [to] call you out, equally yolked, someone to complain to and someone to grow with as we grow and raise our children." Kanye and Kim's marriage has recently come under fire for limitations Kanye set for their daughter North's fashion and makeup choices, as well as comments he made about his wife's fashion choices, but the couple still seems to be going steady.
Despite the troubles they've had and their life in the spot, Kanye, Kim and their family of 6 seem to be thriving what with Kanye's new album, the couples weekly Sunday church service, as well as Kim's many business endeavors including her KKW fragrance line and shape-wear line. In the interview, Kanye was also asked about the potential for him to run for president to which he responded that he is certain there will be a time when he will be president of the United States. So if Kanye has it his way, fans may soon see the Kardashian-Wests move from the First Family of reality television to the First Family of the United States.
