Marvel's Disney+ Shows Are Super Important To Captain Marvel 2

Disney+’s Marvel TV shows will play an important role within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and they will be especially important to Captain Marvel 2. The MCU is preparing for a new era of films and TV shows now that the Infinity Saga officially came to an end with Spider-Man: Far From Home and most of the original Avengers have either retired or died. Because of that, the upcoming phases will introduce new characters, such as Shang-Chi, and carry on with the stories of superheroes that have already had their debuts in the MCU.

Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Thor, and Black Panther are all confirmed to have at least one more adventure in the MCU, and others like Captain Marvel are expected to come back at some point, though there's no projected release date yet. But perhaps the most exciting part of the MCU’s upcoming phases are their connection to Disney+’s Marvel shows, which will be an active part of this universe (unlike Netflix’s Marvel shows). Characters like Falcon, Winter Soldier, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Loki, and Hawkeye will continue their stories on Disney+, and the platform will also be in charge of introducing new characters.

Moon Knight, She-Hulk, and Ms. Marvel are also confirmed to be getting their own TV shows in a near future, and just like the rest, they will impact the films in the MCU and vice versa – and one of the future films that will have a strong connection with Disney+’s shows is Captain Marvel 2.

There’s a lot of conversation over the importance of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and WandaVision, as the two are connected by Scarlet Witch and whatever happens in the series will have an effect in Strange’s second solo film, but WandaVision also holds an important link to another Marvel hero: Captain Marvel. Aside from Scarlet Witch and Vision, the series is also bringing back Thor’s Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings), Ant-Man and the Wasp’s Jimmy Woo (Randall Park), and Captain Marvel’s Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris).

Monica Rambeau was introduced in Captain Marvel as the nine year-old daughter of Carol’s friend, Maria (Lashana Lynch). In the comics, Monica Rambeau is the second Captain Marvel and even becomes leader of the Avengers for a time. As Captain Marvel was set in the 1990s and WandaVision will alternate between a 1950s setting and the modern MCU, the series will feature an adult Monica Rambeau. What role she will have in the series is unknown, but judging by some set photos, Rambeau looks to be linked to SWORD (Sentient World of Observation and Response Department), which is the space-based equivalent of SHIELD.

In addition to that, the arrival of Kamala Khan through the Ms. Marvel series will obviously have an impact in future Captain Marvel films. Kamala is a Pakistani American teenager who discovers she has Inhuman genes, which grant her shapeshifting abilities. Kamala takes the mantle of Ms. Marvel from her idol, Carol Danvers, after Carol becomes Captain Marvel. Though Ms. Marvel is still in early development, to the point where it doesn’t have a projected release date yet, it’s very easy to see why it will be important to Captain Marvel 2 and the other way around, depending on which one comes first. Everything will truly be connected this time.
