When season 6 of Fear the Walking Dead arrives, it may come with the return of a major character from the show's past. As it stands, while the show features a strong ensemble cast, the main character in the show is Morgan Jones, a transplant from The Walking Dead. That hasn't always been the case, though. With the show trying to regain some of its earlier mojo ahead of the next season, a new teaser suggests a face from the past could be coming back.
Of the main characters who have departed Fear the Walking Dead, arguably none has been more significant than Madison Clark. Portrayed by Kim Dickens, the former high school guidance counselor was the focal point of the show for the first four seasons the spinoff aired. That came to an end during the fourth season of the show when it's revealed Madison died in a fire at the baseball field to help her comrades escape certain death. Her death didn't come on screen, however, opening up the possibility she could return down the line.
In the show's official teaser, posted to their Twitter account, that idea comes into play more than ever before. For starters, there's a mysterious blonde woman who can be seen sitting in a jail cell in the middle of the video. She's only seen from behind, but there's enough resemblance to believe it could be Madison. More to the point, the tagline for the teaser is, "Who will rise from the ashes?" Madison seemingly died in a fire, so referencing a "rise from the ashes" points directly at her. Scour the teaser for further clues below:
This is not the first time the show has teased Madison's return. Confusingly, the show has also made some effort to debunk the idea Madison could return. For her part, Dickens has also hemmed and hawed both ways regarding her character's fate. She has publicly stated that the character could still be alive, but also expressed doubt the character could return to the show. With most of her current projects in post-production, there's a chance Dickens will be able to return to the show full-time, should the story arc demand it.
The theories and debates surrounding Madison's future may have to tide fans over for a while longer. The teaser states the show's sixth season will be coming in the summer but fails to give a specific date for the season premiere, granting some breathing room to see how the television schedule continues to be affected by the coronavirus pandemic. When Fear the Walking Dead does eventually return, it'll be interesting to see if Madison returns with it.
