The beloved sitcom The Good Place was full of truly outstanding characters and, honestly, it's extremely difficult to determine the biggest fan favorite. They all had their own merits, but Tahani Al-Jamil was a completely underrated character. She had a brilliant arc throughout the show and she was often the funniest person in any given scene.
Tahani was arguably the person most deserving of the real Good Place as she had helped a lot of people when she was alive. This made her automatically likable, but her best quality was the ridiculous amount of name-dropping she was prone to, which was both astounding and hilarious in equal measure. Here are some of her best.
10 John Wayne
Michael, Eleanor, Tahani, Jason and Chidi (also known as Team Cockroach) went through an awful lot during the four seasons of The Good Place. Firstly, they died. And secondly, they ended up in the Bad Place. Together, however, they set out to reach the Good Place.
In Season 2, the gang was forced to visit the proper Bad Place and blend in with all the demons there. It was an extremely perilous and dangerous situation they were all in, and yet even in Hell, Tahani still couldn't help but mention that she knew John Wayne.
9 Taylor Swift, Beyoncé & Kanye West
Tahani was never afraid to shy away from her famous friends' weird publicity stunts. The afterlife in The Good Place could become pretty bleak, and it was during one of these moments that Tahani name-dropped these three musical artists.
What was especially hilarious was the way in which Tahani referenced Kanye West's stage invasion while Taylor Swift was accepting her award at the VMAs. According to Tahani, she was extremely good friends with all three musicians, which made her feel pretty upset.
8 Anderson Cooper
Yet another one of Tahani's hysterical name drops, this one was a classic because Tahani actually did her best not to mention Anderson Cooper by name. However, as fans know, Tahani is not exactly known for her discretion.
In this instance, she was talking about one of her famous, shy friends, who was so reassured by her presence that he asked her to co-host his television show, Anderson Cooper 360 — or so Tahani claimed.
7 Big Ben
This name drop veered on the unbelievable but Tahani mentioned it so casually, it became even more hilarious. She had been talking about the most beautiful chime in the world, and was surprised, as her godfather was the most famous clock in the world.
Although she never mentioned it by name, Chidi and the show's fans automatically assumed she was talking about Big Ben, the famous clock situated in London. How a clock became Tahani's godfather is a story fans would love to hear.
6 Taylor Swift
This next entry is brilliant because it's so unbelievably childish. What's more is that fans had to hear it secondhand from Eleanor. Apparently, Tahani and Taylor Swift were friends but there was a slight imbalance in terms of who liked whom more.
According to Tahani (relayed to viewers through Eleanor), she was Taylor's best friend, but Taylor wasn't Tahani's best friend. It was such an immature thing to say, it could only have come from Tahani, and fans loved her all the more for it.
5 Elon Musk
Elon Musk is a perfect example of how Tahani did not like all the people she name-dropped. At first, this name drop seemed perfectly normal as Tahani mentioned telling Musk to reach for the stars, which was perfectly fitting advice. However, it seems like he took it a bit literally as he apparently then shot his car into space.
4 Pippa Middleton
When Tahani name-drops, there is usually a very, very slight point as to why she suddenly brought up a ridiculously famous celebrity from her past. This could be a wise word of advice or simply encouraging her friends to have faith.
However, when Tahani mentioned that she also knew Pippa Middleton, Team Cockroach and the viewers waited with not-so-baited-breath to hear her words of wisdom. Unfortunately, all Tahani wanted to say was "let's go."
3 Prince William
Tahani seemed to be extremely friendly with all of the British Royals. Typically, the Royal Family are seen as very important figures who are to be respected, including the Queen's grandson, Prince William.
Tahani, however, didn't appear to get the memo. When she was trying to be good back on Earth, she claimed that she gave away all her clothes to "Good Will." She didn't mean to charity, though, as Good Will was what she called the Prince, saying that he needed the clothes as he married a "commoner."
2 Adele
Surprisingly, Tahani managed to fool viewers with this slightly complicated name drop. While comforting Jason after his recent break up with "Janet," Tahani explained that her break-up routine involved champagne and Alanis Morissette.
Viewers assumed Tahani was name-dropping again, but she then revealed that she was only only listening to Alanis' music. The last twist in the tale was when Tahani subtly delivered another name drop by mentioning that this all happened at her friend Adele's house.
1 Herself
In what was possibly the most poignant name drop in the entire series, this exchange was one of the last times Michael and Tahani had a conversation together. Even in Season 1, these two seemed to share a special bond as Tahani tried to help Michael keep the neighborhood together.
In the very last episode, Michael helped Tahani become an afterlife architect. He asked that once she was the best architect ever, if it would be alright if he bragged about knowing her. Smiling sadly, Tahani remarked that name-dropping was a bit gauche.
