The Lawrence Brothers: 10 Times We Loved Andy, Joey, & Matt

It sure is hard to beat the Lawrence brothers (sorry, Jonas Brothers). Joey, Matt, and Andy have the hearts of '90s kids everywhere. They're handsome, funny, and seemingly very nice people. You've seen them all over the place, including NBC, Disney Channel, and ABC Family (now Freeform). These guys have been in the acting business for a long time, and they can sing, too.

Whether they're together or apart, no one can resist a film or TV show starring a Lawrence. Here are ten moments where we have loved these guys through the years.

10 Blossom

"Whoa!" Joey played Joey Russo on Blossom from 1991 to 1995. Teen Joey was already a huge heartthrob at this point, and fans loved seeing him as Blossom's older brother. Devoted fans of a certain age might remember that Andy and Joey also guest-starred to portray Joey as a boy (Andy at 2 and Matt at 11).

9 Brotherly Love

This NBC (and then WB) sitcom premiered in 1995 and ran for two seasons. Though the Lawrence brothers had acted before this show, it is one of the nostalgic sitcoms for which they are most known collectively. The writers were smart to use the boys' real first names, so they were Matt, Andy, and Joey Roman. Joey is a half-brother to Andy and Matt, since Joey's father (deceased when the show begins) married Claire, who had the two younger boys. It's a different kind of family for the '90s, and unfortunately, a hard-to-find treasure these days (aside from its presence on YouTube).

8 Mrs. Doubtfire

A couple of years before Brotherly Love, Matt played Chris Hillard on Mrs. Doubtfire. This is one of the most important movies of the 1990s, and many tween boys could probably relate to Chris as he learned to accept his parents' divorce. It is already clear at such a young age that Matt has a lot of raw talent. His emotions in this film are on point, and he's pretty cute.

7 Recess

Some fans may not know that Andy was one of the voices of T.J. Detweiler in Disney's Recess. The animated series began in 1997 with Ross Malinger voicing T.J., but Andy took over in 1998, with Ross occasionally coming back for specials.

T.J. is the leader of the pack on Recess, one of Disney's edgier cartoons. Check it out on Disney+.

6 Boy Meets World

1997 was the fateful year when Boy Meets World viewers first met Jack Hunter. The details on Shawn's siblings were always a little contradictory and ambiguous, but this is the only half-sibling to truly have a relationship with Shawn.

Jack also becomes close to Eric Matthews when the two room together in college. Matt Lawrence added so much to an already iconic show by playing Jack, and it was a gift to see him as a special guest star on Girl Meets World.

5 Horse Sense

You know it, you love it, you might have watched it on Disney+ recently. Horse Sense features Andy and Joey, but Matt also makes a cameo at an airport. Joey's character, Michael, is the spoiled cousin. Andy's character, Tommy, is the hard-working, down-to-Earth cousin. When these two get just a few days to spend together in Michael's Beverly Hills backyard, Michael screws everything up. He can't detach from his girlfriend long enough to take Tommy to Disney World, or even just the beach. Karma kicks in when Michael makes a few too many bad choices and gets sent to help Tommy and his mother with their ranch (that they're about to lose). Definitely DCOM gold.

4 The Other Me

The Other Me was Andy's first solo movie for Disney Channel. He plays an unmotivated kid named Will Browning who clones himself and then makes the clone (also played by Andy Lawrence) do all his school work. Oh, and there are evil scientists out for the clone. A solid DCOM all around, including a young Allison Pill.

3 Jumping Ship

If this 2001 DCOM was at all inspired by Cast Away (2000), that would make a lot of sense. Joey Lawrence reprises his role as Michael, and Andy, his as Tommy. The cousins are back for what is supposed to be a lavish Australian vacation. They're in for a surprise when they meet Captain Jake Hunter and see The Tiffany, the less than plush boat they are to spend a few days on. It's fun to see all three of the brothers interact in a setting full of wildlife, scary pirates, and endless ocean.

2 Going to the Mat

Going to the Mat (2004) was Andy's last DCOM. It's not exactly as much of a fan-favorite as his others, but he does an excellent job with the role of Jace Newfield. Jace is a blind teenager who moves to a brand new city and a brand new school. He is a gifted musician but wants to carve out more of an identity for himself, so he joins the wrestling team. Andy brings many dimensions to Jace and his struggles, particularly when the kids at school are so vile.

1 My Fake Fiancé

In 2009, Joey Lawrence and Melissa Joan Hart gave their fans My Fake Fiancé, a movie about a scheming couple. Jennifer meets Vince at a wedding where the two exchange a conversation about all the money and gifts newlyweds receive. After Jennifer's belongings are stolen, she proposes a plan to Vince, and he accepts. They fake an engagement to get cash and presents, but things get complicated when they actually fall in love. The chemistry between Hart and Lawrence gave way to their successful sitcom Melissa & Joey (2010-2015).
