TNT's Animal Kingdom is full of family drama, romance, crime, suspense, and dynamic characters. Every fan of this show certainly has their favorite Cody, but they probably also have their least favorite of the crew. In a show like this - not every character is meant to last.
From brutal deaths to timely endings to sad departures, there are some characters' dismissal that had every viewer totally shocked and sad. However, some of them were almost relieving. It's time to sort out who got what they deserved, and who definitely deserved better.
10 Deserved Better: Catherine
It's actually kind of a mystery why Catherine ever tolerated Baz for long as she did. While she should have known that she would never make it out of the Cody family alive, she certainly didn't deserve the death she got - or any, for that matter.
No matter if anyone really cared about Catherine, it was impossible not to feel a bit distraught when she was taken from Lena and didn't even have a chance at a life without this crime family.
9 Got What They Deserved: Mia
Of all the villains on this show, Mia's death was one of the most relieving of them all. Fans were on the edge of their seats waiting for J to make the call, and while every death is hard to watch - this one she certainly had coming.
Mia manipulated, lied, cheated, and murdered, and it was only bound to catch up to her at one point. She bit off more than she could chew, and she shouldn't have messed with J.
8 Deserved Better: Lena
If there's one character that's a total victim in all of this - it's certainly Lena. The young daughter of Baz and Catherine, Lena grows up in a broken family and is surrounded by instability and crime.
Then, her mother is killed, and then her father, and she's left being fought over and ending up in foster care. While Pope does the right thing by letting her go, she still deserved way, way better.
7 Got What They Deserved: Nicky
While Nicky certainly had a rough go at the Codys, and has since disappeared from the show, she certainly had everything that happen to her coming. Arguably, J's leaving her at the hospital was incredibly depressing, but she should have expected nothing more.
Nicky tried so hard to be 'cool' and 'criminal', and it really just got her into a dark place and she ended up shooting herself - by accident. Nicky always deserved to leave the Cody family.
6 Deserved Better: Lucy
Lucy might just be one of the best characters in the show, and it seriously upset fans when she left. She was the only one on Smurf's tail, and frankly, while she had it coming, she still deserved better.
She loved Baz, and while she was slightly blinded by greed, she was also a wonderful mother and an intelligent and amazing woman. It was a shame that Smurf got the best of her.
5 Got What They Deserved: Colby
Fans might not even remember this character very well, and that's because he got pretty much exactly what he had coming - even if wasn't fun to watch. After Deran's old crew member, Colby, shows up at his bar to threaten him and Adrian, Deran goes into protective mode.
Deran isn't known for random and impulsive violence, and it was certainly surprising that he killed a man - a previous friend - in the back of his bar. Still, Colby shouldn't have messed with Deran Cody.
4 Deserved Better: Colin
One of the reasons that all fans can probably agree that Colin deserved better is because he certainly brought out the best in Smurf. Yes, they were criminals together, but they loved each other, and had children on the way!
Colin's death was also incredibly disheartening because it was avoidable, and was one of the worst ways for him to get caught. Regardless what he ever did, he certainly deserved better.
3 Got What They Deserved: Tupi
Fans meet Tupi after he returns from jail. He is Mia's ex-boyfriend, but they fire things up again (behind J's back). He is greedy and power hungry, and is willing to pull off 'big' heists to steal from the Codys.
Unfortunately for Mia and Tupi, Pete doesn't exactly think highly of them ripping off the family he works for. While Mia is his blood, he doesn't hesitate before shooting Tupi dead - which shocks Mia and everyone watching. Tupi certainly had it coming, though.
2 Deserved Better: Adrian
The entire time Adrian struggled after being caught smuggling drugs was difficult for viewers to watch. This innocent, smart, and kind man definitely got mixed up with the wrong crowd.
While he didn't die, his departure might have been one of the saddest on the show. He certainly deserved better - and so did Deran. These two could have had a happy life, and neither deserved the ending their love got.
1 Got What They Deserved: Smurf
Fans can say that her death was hard to watch, and maybe that they even got a bit teary-eyed over the highly emotional and distressing scene. However, Smurf always had a bitter and brutal end coming her way.
She didn't deserve to die from illness, and frankly, it only made sense that she died 'at the hands' of her sons and grandson. It was fitting for J to pull the trigger - and she got what she always deserved.
