The Netflix sci-fi series Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts has been renewed for a third and final season. This animated young adult series from DreamWorks tells the story of Kipo, a young girl who has spent her whole life underground, finally exploring the fantastical world filled with mutant animals roaming a neon-colored landscape.
A recent press release from DreamWorks confirms that Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts will be returning once more on October 12th. The most recent season ended with Kipo (played by Karen Fukuhara) and her friends overthrowing Scarlemagne, an evil mutant baboon set on dominating humankind via mind-control. Now, however, DreamWorks and Netflix have revealed Kipo will be facing even greater villains: “After dethroning Scarlemagne, Kipo and the Brunch Bunch face a more daunting foe: Dr. Emilia, who plots to eliminate mutekind to make the surface ‘safe’ for humans.”
Unfortunately for fans of the show, this third season will also be the show’s last as it joins the list of DreamWorks series on Netflix coming to a close. However, the show’s executive producer Rad Sechrist tweeted that he wants the series to receive some sort of movie adaptation, as can be seen in the tweet embedded above. Though no movie has been confirmed yet, a feature-length installment of Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts could be just the sort of epic conclusion the show needs.
