Game Awards 2020: Every Big Announcement & New Game Reveal

While mainly a celebration of the video game industry's accomplishments each year, The Game Awards is also a popular place for publishers to show off end-of-year announcements for upcoming content. The Game Awards 2020 is no different, with many new game and DLC reveal trailers coming alongside its industry accolades.

Prior to TGA 2020, several video game publishers teased new reveals. The news that Smash Bros. Ultimate's next character reveal would arrive at the award show caused several character names to trend on Twitter, from Kingdom Hearts' Sora to Devil May Cry's Dante. Smash Bros. Ultimate's seemingly limitless crossover potential meant fans were particularly hyped for its new DLC announcement, but other popular games also hinted at new reveals. Fortnite teased its "next bounty hunter," following the recent addition of The Mandalorian's Din Djarin.

Although host Geoff Keighley confirmed the show would include more than a dozen game reveals - and the aforementioned teases promised a few exciting announcements - Microsoft, for one, urged Xbox fans to lower their expectations. Last year's show played host to the Xbox Series X's reveal, but the company said it would have a much less prominent presence in 2020 than some fans were speculating. Still, other publishers teasing more significant announcements meant The Game Awards 2020 would have at least some big reveals to get fans hyped.

Below is a list of every game announcement and trailer at The Game Awards 2020 and its pre-show. Follow any hyperlinked text for more details on those particular reveals.

(Note: The Game Awards 2020 is currently ongoing. Screen Rant is updating this list as the show progresses, and the livestream is embedded below.)

  • Loop Hero (Four Corners, Devolver Digital)
  • Tchia (Awaceb)
  • Sea of Solitude: The Director's Cut (Jo-Mei)
  • Shady Part of Me (Focus Home Interactive)
  • Myst VR (Cyan)
  • NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139… (Square Enix)
  • Century: Age of Ashes (Playwing)
  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Sephiroth DLC (Nintendo)
  • Perfect Dark (The Initiative)
  • Back 4 Blood (Turtle Rock Studios)
  • Scavengers Closed Beta (Midwinter Entertainment)
  • Hood: Outlaws and Legends (Focus Home Interactive)

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's new character announcement was likely the show’s most anticipated reveal. For those expecting a brand new crossover, the reveal of Final Fantasy 7's Sephiroth in Smash may be a disappointment, especially after unexpected crossovers like Banjo and Kazooie and Minecraft's Steve. Still, the iconic villain will likely have many fans of both franchises excited.

The surprise of a Perfect Dark reboot announcement showed Microsoft was fibbing a bit when it told fans not much was coming, as the return of the long-dormant franchise will likely have many fans excited. It also marks another important Xbox console exclusive in the company's relatively small library of first-party titles, and the game's "eco sci-fi" theme looks to deliver and interesting angle on Perfect Dark's futuristic universe.
