The Office But Everyone Is Dwight Deepfake Video Is Disturbing & Hilarious

A deepfake video of The Office takes Dunder Mifflin's employees and swaps their faces with Dwight K Schrute. One of the most popular and beloved sitcoms, The Office, uses a mockumentary format to follow daily life at a paper company called Dunder Mifflin. It focuses mainly on the antics of Michael Scott (Steve Carell), Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson), Jim Halpert (John Krasinski), and Pam Beesly (Jenna Fischer) – though the show offers plenty of airtime to its hilarious side characters, as well. After a rocky first few seasons, The Office shot up in ratings, which allowed it to continue for nine seasons in total. And even though it ended over seven years ago, the sitcom has gained new popularity thanks to streaming. The Office continually tops the charts on Netflix, meaning it could be a hard hit to the company when it moves to NBC's streamer, Peacock, in 2021.

The Office might be one of the most popular sitcoms ever, but that does not necessarily mean the show is comprised of characters that you would want as your friend. Much like the original British series, the NBC sitcom follows some pretty unbearable individuals. From Michael's extremely inappropriate jokes to Kelly's (Mindy Kaling) endless drama, to Andy's (Ed Helms) repeated reminders that he went to Cornell, everyone in The Office has some unpleasant quality that defines them. There is no greater example of this than Dwight, the part-time beet farmer/bed and breakfast owner who worked as assistant to the regional manager for most of the show's run. Dwight's intense character traits are perfectly showcased by Wilson's comedic abilities and goofy looking features.

Now get ready to see those features on the rest of the cast in The Office in a disturbing (yet hilarious) deepfake. Made by Jesse Richards on YouTube, the video takes some iconic scenes from the show and replaces the characters' faces with Dwight's iconic profile. Moments such as the one where Michael "declares bankruptcy" is made even funnier with Dwight's face. The video is also an impressive feat for deepfake technology, considering the user managed to create a reasonably convincing version of Kelly, who, as an Indian American, has much darker skin than Dwight. You can watch the full video below.

Like in all deepfakes, the audio still features the original actors' voices. Most of Dwight's lines are delivered in a bored monotone (sans when he's yelling at people), so it is amusing to see Dwight's features coupled with more lively dialogue. On top of that, Dwight rarely smiles (he tries not to because "showing one's teeth is a submission signal in primates"), which makes it even more unsettling to see his smile on Pam or Jim's face.

Deepfake videos have become increasingly popular, with one of The Office's Krasinski surfacing a few months ago in which viewers see him as Captain America. While other deepfakes allow fans to imagine beloved roles with different actors, this video's only purpose is to make people laugh and feel slightly disturbed by Dwight's creepy smile on other people's faces. That might hurt Dwight's feelings to hear, but luckily his feelings regenerate at twice the speed of a normal man's.
