Blake Shelton may just be a sore loser, as The Voice judge joked that the finale was "rigged" after he lost to fellow judge and fiancé Gwen Stefani. Gwen took home her first win during The Voice season 19 finale earlier this week.
Blake Shelton has been a judge on The Voice since the start of the show in 2011. Many judges have come and gone over the years, and Blake remains the only original judge left on the show. Gwen Stefani joined Blake on the show in 2014, making her judging debut. The two started dating a year later and are now engaged. Although she has been a judge for a total of five seasons, Gwen has never been on two back-to-back seasons. She has also never won a season up until this year. Throughout her time on the reality singing competition, Gwen has always bickered and joked with her soon-to-be husband Blake Shelton while competing against him. Gwen has finally earned bragging rights, as a singer from her team won season 19. Carter Rubin was crowned the winner of The Voice earlier this week.
Now that Gwen Stefani has bragging rights, it seems as though Blake Shelton is a sore loser. People reported that Blake Shelton joked about The Voice finale being rigged after losing to his fiancé. Gwen Stefani took to Instagram to share a video of herself and season 19 winner Carter Rubin. In the clip, they are in disbelief over their win. Gwen shared even more behind the scenes videos on her stories, including one of her and Blake leaving the set post-finale. In the video, Gwen exclaimed, "I just beat Blake Shelton." She then turned the camera towards Blake, who was shaking his head in disappointment. He joked "This show is rigged" before the video ended. See Gwen's Instagram post below:
Blake later put his feelings aside to share his excitement and congratulations with Team Gwen. He shared Gwen's tweet that included the same video she had shared to Instagram. After congratulating his future wife, Blake wrote, "I'll let this one slide!" He then tagged Carter Rubin, assuring him that if Team Blake had to lose to anyone, he was happy to lose to Carter and Team Gwen. Carter shared his gratitude for his coach Gwen in a heartfelt Carter Rubin Instagram post. The 15-year old winner thanked Gwen for choosing him to be a part of her team, and for all that she taught him. See the post below:
Any longtime The Voice fan knows that Blake Shelton hates to lose. Whether it's losing a good singer during the blind auditions or losing the entire competition, Blake does not take it lightly. For Blake, losing was hard enough prior to the addition of Gwen to the show, let alone now, when he's lost to his future wife. There is no doubt Gwen will never let Blake live this one down. What better way to leave The Voice than with a win? Congratulations, Team Gwen.
